Because I love you&#8230;that much.<\/p>\n<p>It just so happens this is a brilliant poem by Diane Burns, a Native American poet (of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ojibwa\">Ojibwa<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chemehuevi\">Chemehuevi<\/a> descent) who passed away last year. Diane won the&nbsp; Congressional Medal of Merit and attended Barnard College at Columbia University. She was a smart broad.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; <\/p>\n<p><strong>Sure You Can Ask Me a Personal Question<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\">How do you do?<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;No, I am not Chinese.<br \/>No, not Spanish.<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;No, I am American Indi-uh, Native American.<br \/>No, not from India.<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;No, not Apache.<br \/>No, not Navajo.<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;No, not Sioux.<br \/>No, we are not extinct.<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Yes, Indin.<br \/>Oh?<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;So, that\u2019s where you get those high cheekbones.<br \/>Your great grandmother, huh?<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;An Indian Princess, huh?<br \/>Hair down to there?<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Let me guess, Cherokee?<br \/>Oh, so you\u2019ve had an Indian friend?<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;That close?<br \/>Oh, so you\u2019ve had an Indian lover?<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;That tight?<br \/>Oh, so you\u2019ve had an Indian servant?<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;That much?<br \/>Yeah, it was awful what you guys did to us.<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;It\u2019s real decent of you to apologize.<br \/>No, I don\u2019t know where you can get peyote.<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;No, I don\u2019t know where you can get Navajo rugs real cheap.<br \/>I don\u2019t know if anyone knows whether or not Cher is really Indian.<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;No, I didn\u2019t make it rain tonight.<br \/>Yeah. Uh-huh. Spirituality. <br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Uh-huh. Yeah. Spirituality. Uh-huh. Mother<br \/>Earth. Yeah. Uh\u2019huh. Uh-huh.
