Two Cher scholars sent me interesting Cher advertisements last year and I thank them.
The first was an article of star "hair-dos" of the month which dates back to the 60s sometime. Anyone want to take a guess at the actual date?
As Aunt Mabel might say, “What in heavens name is that on her head?
The next ad below. Well…I don’t know what to make of it. I’m quite speechless actually. If anyone knows what to make of it, please let me know.
“It’s that kind of book.”
I remember that hairdo layout; terrifying. This was during that period when Cher was just starting to toy with the occasional wiglet and switch, more because it was very fashionable in the late Sixties than because she was Queen of the Wigs, which she would shortly become.
I’d never seen the ad for Sonny and Cher and the Bible, however. Having seen it, I need now to go lie down with a cold compress on my forehead.

P.S. The photo of Sonny and Cher used in this bible ad is from that post-Atco, pre-TV show photo shoot where Cher was trying to hide what had once been her bangs and Sonny had a new moustache. Why do I know these things?
